Catie Malik is a healthcare administrator, finance executive, community volunteer, and longtime Kirkland resident who is running for Kirkland City Council. With more than two decades of experience managing complex healthcare operations and finances, Catie brings a results-driven, people-centered approach to solving community challenges.

Catie's story is rooted in the Pacific Northwest, where she has built her career and raised her family. She has called Kirkland home for more than 15 years, developing a deep connection to the community's unique character and a vision for its sustainable future.

After completing both her undergraduate and graduate education at the University of Washington, Catie dedicated her career to healthcare administration, working across multiple specialties and organization structures. She currently serves as the Associate Director of Finance for the Department of OB/GYN at the UW’s Medical Center, where she oversees a $45 million budget and leads a team responsible for financial operations, procurement processes, and provider productivity management.

Throughout her professional career, Catie has consistently demonstrated her ability to bring people together, analyze complex data, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement effective solutions—skills that are needed on the Kirkland City Council.

Prior to her current role, Catie worked as a Practice Advisor at UW Medicine, serving as an internal consultant for Primary Care, Psychiatry, and Value-Based Care. In this position, she helped implement key initiatives during challenging times, including transitioning providers to telemedicine on a large scale. Her career also includes experience in venture capital at Zoic Capital, where she analyzed potential healthcare investments, and management positions at Swedish Medical Group and The Polyclinic, where she focused on improving patient access and care delivery.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Catie has a longstanding commitment to community service and social justice. Locally, Catie serves on the Lake Washington High School PTSA as Vice President. And while Catie may have roots firmly planted in Kirkland, her commitment to empowering women and value for education stretch much broader. For nearly two decades, she has been actively involved with the Kiran Anjali Project (KAP), raising funds to support educational opportunities for at-risk girls in India. The organization provides not only education but also meals, self-defense training, and mental health services to help young women build sustainable futures and break cycles of poverty.

Catie believes in sustainable models. She envisions a Kirkland that prioritizes responsible growth while keeping neighborhoods healthy, ensures fiscal responsibility and transparency in city budgets and operations, enhances public safety, improves transportation infrastructure, protects parks and natural spaces, and creates inclusive policies that serve all residents.

With extensive experience in finance, operations, and management, combined with her dedication to community, equity and social justice, Catie Malik is the city councilmember we need in Kirkland during these uncertain times.

Catie lives in the Central Houghton neighborhood of Kirkland with her husband, Sundeep, her two daughters.
